Programs

Psychology is a very diverse field and includes the study of basic physiological processes that influence how humans think, feel, and behave; the study of how humans interact with social systems; and everything in between.

In the Department of Psychology at UL Lafayette, we aim to provide a strong foundation of knowledge in this diverse field, while focusing on the science of psychology. We offer a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology and a Master of Science (MS) in Psychology degrees.

Psychology Major

As an undergraduate psychology major pursuing a BS degree, you will take a variety of classes that will help you prepare for graduate study in psychology and related disciplines (e.g., counseling, social work), or to seek entry-level jobs in the mental health field or in other fields. All psychology major courses are taught by faculty with expertise in their fields.

Psychology Major - Premedical Concentration

Effective Fall 2018, students interested in pursuing a Psychology Major while preparing for entry to medical school, should consult the Department Head very early in their academic career.

Psychology Minor

Earning your minor in psychology is great way to learn the foundations of psychology with flexibility. The psychology minor requires 18 hours of psychology courses.

Master's in Psychology

As a graduate student pursuing an MS degree in psychology, you will receive training intended to help you become competitive for doctoral-level study in a variety of domains in psychology. You will get hands-on research experience and take foundational courses in scientific psychology and electives to help you tailor your educational experience to meet your career goals.
