The Psychology Department has recently welcomed several new faculty members.

In 2023, the Department hired Dr. Mark LaCour as an Assistant Professor. Dr. LaCour focuses on quantitative methods and teaches statistics classes in the department. He earned his master's degree at UL Lafaytte in 2016 and a PhD in Experimental Psychology from Texas Tech University in 2021. He was a previous faculty member at LSU-Alexandria. The department also hired Andrea Eggenberger as an Instructor in 2023; however, she had been teaching full-time as a visiting instructor since 2020. Dr. Eggenberger received a master's degree in applied psychology from UL Lafayette in 2010, and in 2024, she received a PhD in Educational Leadership and Research from LSU. Dr. Eggenberger teaches Educational Psychology, as well as other courses in the department.

In 2024, The Department hired Dr. Joseph Salande as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Salande is a licensed clinical psychology who came to UL Lafayette from the Alexandria VA hospital. Dr. Salande received a master's degree in applied psychology from UL Lafayette in 2008, and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate Univeristy in 2016. Dr. Salande will be teaching Assessment courses and managing the Psychology Assessment Clinic. The Department also welcomed (back) two Instructors who are transitioning from visiting to continuing positions. Sara Gibson and Michelle Simon have been with the department since 2022; both previously received master's degrees in Psychology from UL Lafayette. Ms. Gibson and Ms. Simon primarily teach courses in Developmental Psychology.
