UL Lafayette Psychology Department Seeks Applications for Two Faculty Positions

The Psychology Department at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is searching for two academic positions for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Visiting Assistant Professor: Quantitative Psychology

A Visiting Assistant Professor with expertise in quantitative methods is being sought for a 1-year appointment that offers renewal opportunities. Specialization can be in any area of psychology, provided the candidate can teach psychological statistics courses to both undergraduate and master’s-level graduate students. A 3:3 teaching load, along with the expectation of participation in research and service (advising and departmental) activities comprise the work duties.

Qualifications

Candidates should have already earned a PhD, or expect to do so by August 2022.  Previous college-level experience teaching statistics is strongly preferred.  Demonstrated expertise (through degree, coursework, and/or applied work) in quantitative methods in psychology is desirable. Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations.

Temporary Instructor

A psychology instructor with expertise in introductory and/or developmental psychology is being sought for a 1-year appointment that offers renewal opportunities. Duties will include a 5:5  teaching load of courses in introductory and developmental psychology. In addition, this Instructor will be required to participate in departmental activities, such as program development and evaluation, advising, and keeping office hours.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in psychology. Previous teaching experience at the college level. Ability to teach online classes is preferred. Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations. Applicants are expected to describe their commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment through their teaching, and service activities. Lastly, it is expected that the employee will establish and maintain professional and community ties. Interest in research is preferred.

UL Lafayette, the largest school in the University of Louisiana System, is located in the heart of Louisiana’s Cajun country. The University was recently designated an R1 research institution by the Carnegie Classification system. The psychology department includes 18 full-time faculty members, more than 700 undergraduate majors seeking bachelor of science degrees with concentrations in psychology and psychology pre-med, and approximately 30 graduate students in our pre-doctoral general psychology masters program.
